FFP2 masks are a “Filtering Face Piece” as defined in Europe by the EN 149 standard. These
mechanical filters are used in what is technically called “respirators”, and more commonly just
known as “FFP masks”. FFP2 masks have distinct features and follow a different regulatory
standard.
FFP2 masks are considered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as they protect the person
wearing them against particulates such as dust droplets, particles, and aerosols.
